All About Me
I am a fully qualified teacher holding a B.Ed (Hons) degree with over 28 years of teaching experience. I believe that, in order to inspire young people to do their best and reach their potential, learning needs to be fun and interactive. I provide personalised and structured small learning groups in a dedicated classroom space, covering UK National Curriculum and 11+ programmes.
I live in Poole with my wife and 2 daughters. When I'm not teaching I enjoy keeping fit by jogging, sea swimming and cycling.
Lessons and Specialties

I provide small group tutor sessions lasting 1 hour. I specialise in tutoring towards the 11+ exam, covering all aspects of the English, Maths & Verbal Reasoning programmes. This also includes mentoring on exam technique, coping with nerves, common pitfalls and regular indvidualised feedback on your child's progress. In addition, I offer regular mock exams throughout the year, holiday workshops and 1-to-1 focus sessions if required. Please feel free to enquire and discuss your child's needs and I will do my best to accommodate you.
Small Group Lessons
11+ preparation
Teachers need to be able to motivate and guide students to success. To do this I ensure my group sizes are small, and know how to get my students to excel through personalised attention, patience, a lot of practice, and hard work. I make learning fun through a variety of engaging and outside-the-box activities. Sessions are offered weekly and during term-time only. The full 11+ programme is delivered over 12 months, from September to September, when the exam takes place.
Holiday Workshops & Mock Exams
Practice makes perfect!
I offer holiday workshops to focus on problem areas. This can give us an opportunity to get out of the classroom and use the outside space to get our brains in gear! These workshops are loved by my students and help to motivate ongoing learning to encourage the most progress.
Mock exams usually take place in December, March, June and August and are optional, but an excellent way to highlight weaknesses and track progress. They are good preparation for the exam day, but are delivered in a gentle, nurturing style to encourage confidence.

All lessons take place in my purpose-built dedicated classroom at my home in Poole. Students are made to feel relaxed and welcome with drinks available and there may be a sweet reward for those who try their best!
